Grainne Maguire is a stand up comedian, comedy writer and political commentator. She has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her shows “We Need to Talk About Bonnets”, “Where Are All the Fun Places and Are Lots of People There Having More Fun?” and “Grainne Maguire's One Hour All Night Election Show”. She also hosts the popular monthly topical comedy night “What Has The News Ever Done For Me?”. She wrote and starred in the Radio 4 sitcom “28 Dates Later”. Grainne has written extensively for topical comedy shows, including “Breaking The News”, “The Now Show” and Channel 4’s “Alternative Election Night” coverage. As a political comedian and commentator she has been invited to appear on “The Daily Politics” and “Question Time” and featured in BBC Parliament’s election documentary “60 Years Of Swing”. She recently took to Twitter to live-tweet her menstrual cycle to Taoiseach Enda Kenny in protest of Ireland’s abortion laws; it provoked a global response and was covered in the Guardian, the Independent and the Irish Times.
