Joe Murtagh is a London born Irish writer. He comes from a family of carpenters and labourers, though it's been said that Joe himself "couldn't hammer a nail straight", and after some site experience, he would wholeheartedly agree. So he's making a good go of writing. He graduated with a Masters in Screenwriting at the NFTS, where he won the 2015 Most Promising Student Award. Whilst at the NFTS he wrote a Western called DEVIL'S RIVER, which is now being developed with BAFTA winning producer Diarmid Scrimshaw/Inflammable Films. He is currently adapting short story CALM WITH HORSES by Colin Barrett with DMC Film and Film4 for Nick Rowland to direct and is writing an original Irish spaghetti-Western called DREADFUL NED, also for DMC Film. For television Joe is developing a TV series called WITCHFINDER with Clerkenwell Films and an original drama series called RIOT GIRLS with Eleven. He is currently writing an episode of Mika Watkins' TV Series ORIGIN (Youtube Red/Left Bank Pictures). Joe is a 2016 Screen International Star of Tomorrow.
